West Side Route
On the western side of the island, the landscape changes. There are numerous options amidst dozens of small and large bays with crystal-clear greenish-blue waters and pine trees reaching down to the sea. Along the route from the medieval village of Mesta to the head village of northwestern Chios, Volissos, you will encounter, among other beaches, Lithi, Elinta, Metochi, Tegani, and Trachili.
TIGANI BEACH
Tigani is a white pebble beach with crystal-clear azure waters and a soft seabed. It's worth noting that even on the hottest summer day, the water here remains pleasantly cool and refreshing. As this part of Chios is secluded from towering cliffs, Tigani is ideal for a peaceful swim away from the island's bustling beaches. During the summer, some privacy-seeking tourists choose Tigani for camping. The beach is also suitable for fishing, snorkeling, and diving, with the underwater landscape in this part of the Aegean being particularly intriguing.
You can easily reach Tigani by scooter or car, as public transportation isn't available in this part of the island. Many tourists and locals alike come to the shore to enjoy the stunning sunset views and the historical ambiance of Psara Island.

The unique beach of Prastia is located in northwestern Chios, 38 km from the city and 3.5 km from the village of Sidirounta. It is an isolated beach with few visitors. It has sandy shores with shallow, clear waters, and it's worth noting that it is the only sandy beach in Northwestern Chios. Due to the small bay it forms, it is usually calm most days of the year. At one end, there is a small jetty for fishing boats. Access to this beach is via a dirt road from the village of Sidirounta or from the beach of Managros.
The unique Prastia beach combines golden sand with azure waters, just 5 minutes from the port of Limnia. The location is ideal for a half-day route.
